Dubai Metro Green Line opening date confusion

The Dubai Metro Green Line opening date has been moved to 2010 H2 according to the latest RTA press release (12 December 2009) which said “HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that the completion rate in constructing several stations on the Green Line of Dubai Metro ranges from 50% to 80%, and emphasized that the project is running on schedule such that the opening and start of operation will be in the second half of 2010.

Strangely, the press release says that the project is “on schedule“, yet in August 2009, the RTA said the Green Line of the Dubai Metro would open in June 2010. Perhaps June comes later in the year on the RTA calendar compared to the rest of the world. Then again there were subsequent reports that opening had been delayed until the end of 2010, then October 2010, but at the time of the October 2010 date the RTA communications director, Peyman Younes Parham, said “The last official date we have is June 2010. There is no change in that.”

So has the last official date changed or not?
